Position Summary

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality control, an acute eye for precision, and a passion for maintaining high standards of craftsmanship in boat manufacturing. In this role, you will help ensure that every vessel meets our exacting standards and uphold our reputation for delivering premium-quality boats.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of components, subassemblies, and completed boats to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and internal quality standards.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes throughout the production cycle to identify defects, deviations, or areas for improvement.
  • Inspect completed lamination parts, identify finish defects, and determine root causes.
  • Examine materials, parts, and subassemblies for damage or nonconformance.
  • Use precision measuring instruments and inspection tools to validate dimensional accuracy and craftsmanship.
  • Accurately document findings, including measurements, defects, and corrective actions, and prepare detailed quality inspection and test reports for management.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and design teams to address quality concerns, suggest process improvements, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Answer quality-related questions and provide guidance on quality assurance protocols.
  • Enforce compliance with established quality procedures and industry best practices.
  • Conduct tests and inspections as required and directed.
  • Support the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or technical certification in quality, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality assurance/control, preferably in boat building, fiberglass, or marine manufacturing environments or equivalent experience.
  • USCG Marine Captain’s License is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of fiberglass construction, lamination processes, and boat manufacturing techniques.
  • Proficient with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to detect surface flaws, structural inconsistencies, and specification deviations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for documentation and cross-department collaboration.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Basic proficiency with computers and ability to use inspection or QA software/systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and work instructions.
  • Comfortable working in dusty, loud, non-climate-controlled environments.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, climb, and lift to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Experience with fiberglass and lamination preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, such as ABYC, ISO, or related marine regulations, is a plus.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements include eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, protective suits, dusts masks and respirators.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Employees must be able to work a 10-hour shift or more in one workday including planned and unplanned overtime.
  • Exhibits ability to work cautiously but efficiently in potentially hazardous conditions.
