A weatherization technician specializes in making residential and commercial buildings more energy-efficient and affordable. These technicians play a vital role in implementing weatherization measures to improve the insulation, heating, and cooling systems of buildings, thereby reducing energy consumption and lowering utility bills. Their work creates sustainable, energy-efficient structures and promotes environmental conservation.
Job Duties:
Weatherization technicians are responsible for implementing the recommended energy-saving measures. They install insulation, seal air leaks, replace windows and doors, and more. They use various tools and materials to ensure proper installation and improve the building's energy efficiency. A list of daily job duties can be found below:
- Install - Blown-in cellulose insulation in attics.
- Install - Whole house ventilation system
- Install - Doors & windows (interior & exterior)
- Install - Dryer exhaust vent
- HVAC Duct sealing
- Install - Solar Screens or Solar Film
Responsibilities:
Technicians adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working with insulation materials, power tools, and HVAC systems. They also ensure that all weatherization activities comply with relevant building codes and regulations.
The work can be physically demanding, requiring technicians to climb ladders, handle tools, and work in various weather conditions. Attention to detail and precision are crucial to ensuring that weatherization measures are implemented effectively, leading to energy savings and enhanced comfort for building occupants.
Travel:
Weatherization crews cover the entire state of Florida. Therefore, travel is required. Crews alternate on a travel rotation.
Company vehicle is provided to crew chief and/or upper management.
Per Diem is paid for jobs requiring overnight stays.
Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record **** MUST
- Familiarity with job duty requirements or construction background
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with industrial power tools and equipment.
- Ability to handle physical workload and/or lift 75 pounds.
Compensation:
Paid training starts at $18.00/HR
Weatherization Technician(s) $22.00 - $27.00/HR
Per Diem
