Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Paralegal to join our team in Tampa, Florida, on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting attorneys by managing complex family law cases and performing both paralegal and administrative tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of litigation processes, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced legal environment.
Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive paralegal and administrative support, ensuring cases are managed efficiently from inception to resolution.
• Draft, edit, and proofread legal documents, including motions, pleadings, orders, and correspondence.
• File legal documents in state, federal, and appellate courts, adhering to all filing requirements and deadlines.
• Prepare discovery requests, responses, and other related documents, such as interrogatories and subpoenas.
• Organize and maintain extensive case files, ensuring all documents are properly indexed and easily accessible.
• Assist with trial preparation, including creating trial exhibits, notebooks, and issuing witness subpoenas.
• Conduct legal research using tools like Westlaw and Shepardize case law when needed.
• Coordinate and manage court calendars, ensuring all deadlines and appearances are met.
• Communicate professionally with clients, experts, and attorneys to facilitate case progress.
• Support attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.• Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of three years of experience as a family law paralegal.
• Strong knowledge of family law rules, civil procedures, and court filing processes at both state and federal levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, with working knowledge of Excel and e-discovery tools.
• Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to maintain professionalism under pressure.
• Demonstrated experience in drafting legal documents and performing legal research.
• Willingness to occasionally work overtime as needed.
