About Miami SCORES


America SCORES is the nations only after school program that empowers students in urban communities using soccer,
writing, creative expression, and service-learning. America SCORES inspires youth to lead healthy lives, be engaged
students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world. Founded in 2024, the Miami SCORES
chapter will provide unique after school and summer programming for approximately 300 Miami-Dade County Title I
Public School youth in the upcoming school year through soccer, creative writing, and service-learning to measurably
improve fitness, literacy, and community engagement.

Service Term: Half-time role of 900 hours to complete between August 2025 August 2026
Expected Hours Per Week: Available to work 20 hours per week, distributed across three days: Tuesdays, Thursdays,
Fridays

Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist program staff in providing high quality youth sports development and literacy programming
Lead team of 16 students in soccer and/or literacy programming at one of Miami SCORES school sites
Assist or substitute for Miami SCORES soccer or writing coaches for practices and lessons as needed
Support distribution and collection of supplies from our school partners (uniforms, evaluations, etc.)
Communicate regularly with coaches at the schools to ensure program quality
Attend and participate in all coach trainings put on by Miami SCORES, support with planning for Spring Coach
Training
Assist with the collection and inputting of program data and evaluation
Assist with student-centered service-learning projects throughout the community
Support game day logistics
o all game day fields are lined prior to game time
o all game day fields have assembled goals prior to game time
o game day staff bags are resupplied weekly
Manage and referee school soccer games
o representing as Miami SCORES staff member
o referee for one of the two games (boys and girls games play simultaneously)
o build school relationships with administrators/coaches/students/communities
Support Miami SCORES literacy/poetry programming
o read and understand Miami SCORES poetry curriculum
o school site visits to ensure coaches and students are on track for the end of the season Poetry SLAM!
o practice individual poems with poet-athletes from each of our schools to get ready for Poetry SLAM!
o ensure all individual and group school poems are submitted to Miami SCORES prior to Poetry SLAM!
Assist in the planning of the Miami SCORES Day of Service and Soccer Fall Frenzy/Jamboree, Poetry SLAM!
Lead soccer camps during the summer and winter (occasionally on weekends)
Additionally, the Coach Across America Coach will:
Encourage participants to gain and develop life skills, knowledge, and techniques
Act as a role model, gaining the respect and trust of the schools, communities and youth served
Coach Across America Coaches must complete the following requirements to ensure successful completion of
the Coach Across America program:
o Complete the minimum required hours of service and training by last day of coach contract
o Attend the Coach Across America Coach orientation
o Complete of bi-weekly timesheets

o Attend a day of service
o Attend/participate in Coach Across America Sports trainings, meetings, and special initiatives
o Attend Coach Training Institute (date to be announced by Program Manager)
Uniform Policy: Coaches must wear Coach Across America Sports branded t-shirts provided by Coach Across
America Sports with Coach Across America logo when coaching and at program sessions and events

Member Eligibility & Qualifications
Coach Across America is open to U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents.
Qualifications:
Passion for using sport as a tool to empower and inspire youth
Ability to commit to minimum of 900 hours of service August 2025 through August 2026
Some college/or college degree preferred
At least three years of experience in at least one sport; soccer experience preferred
Experience coaching and instructing youth programs
Excellent organizational ability and ability to work well under pressure
Strong communication and interpersonal skills among diverse constituents
Dependable, flexible, sense of humor
Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to use data for curriculum improvement
Event planning and implementation skills, especially related to youth-focused events
Ability to build and maintain relationships with community organizations and agencies
Willingness to adapt and fulfill various roles as needed within the organization.
Bilingual abilities are a plus (Spanish, Haitian Creole)
Benefits:
Living Allowance of approximately $13,500/year. You receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance to cover basic
expenses.
Professional Development Training: You have the opportunity to attend in-person and virtual training to learn how
to be a community development change agent.
End of Service Award: Valued at approximately $3000 to pay for a range of education expenses. ***Candidates
must complete hours of service to be eligible for this service award.***
$75 Monthly Housing Stipend provided by Miami SCORES (paid directly to landlord)
Monthly Transportation Stipend (TBD based on candidates mode of transport)
