The Medical Assistant will perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. This role supports the clinician and care management teams in assessing, maintaining chronic disease management, examining, and treating the patient population. The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.
Responsibilities
- Support clinicians in providing comprehensive patient care.
- Assist in chronic disease management and patient examinations.
- Perform laboratory testing and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.
- Take and record vital signs, with a preference for manual vitals.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory quality control requirements and universal precaution procedures.
- Communicate and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
- Assess emergencies and respond accordingly.
- Float between clinic locations as needed based on patient volume.
Essential Skills
- High School diploma required.
- 2 years' experience within a clinic or back-office healthcare setting.
- MA diploma or Certified MA (CMA) or 3 years' MA experience.
- Phlebotomy experience required.
- Ability to take manual vitals preferred.
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Active driver's license required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with TriMed Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Flexibility to adjust to a changing work environment.
- Organizational and independent work capabilities.
- Responsibility and reliability.
Work Environment
The role is 100% onsite in a pediatric primary care clinic. The working hours are Mondays from 8am-12pm, Tuesdays to Thursdays from 1pm-7pm, Fridays from 8am-5pm, and every other Saturday from 8am-12pm. The position offers a permanent opportunity, with a mileage reimbursement of $0.67 per mile when traveling between clinics. Additionally, a $20 gas card is provided if required to work outside of core locations. Training on manual vitals is available.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26000.00 - $30000.00/yr.
