Job Title: Senior Controls Engineer | Electrical & Automation | Orlando, FL | W2 Only
Location: Orlando, FL | Work Model: 100% Onsite | Travel: Up to 30%
About the Role:
Join a 100% employee-owned, ENR Top 500 engineering firm as a Senior Controls Engineer in Orlando, FL. This hands-on role focuses on electrical and control system design for large-scale industrial automation and entertainment projects. You'll lead system design from concept to commissioning, including PLC programming, electrical panel design, network integration, and on-site troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement control systems (hardware, software, network) from scratch.
- Develop and program PLC/DCS systems using Ladder Logic and Structured Text (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Create electrical panel layouts, perform power calculations, and ensure system safety and reliability.
- Integrate control systems with cross-functional teams and facility designs.
- Prepare detailed system documentation, schematics, and test/commissioning plans.
- Troubleshoot, start up, and commission complex control systems onsite.
- Ensure compliance with client standards, ASTM, and local regulations.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with vendors and contractors.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of hands-on Controls/Automation Engineering experience.
- Strong PLC programming (Ladder Logic, Structured Text) on Rockwell/Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms.
- Proven experience in electrical system design, panel layout, and field device integration.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Hands-on troubleshooting, startup, and commissioning experience in industrial automation or manufacturing.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work onsite with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience in safety-critical environments (SIL/PL, attractions, ASTM standards).
- AutoCAD experience for electrical/control system documentation.
- Exposure to multiple PLC languages beyond Ladder Logic.
