Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Conduct field investigations and perform failure and accident analysis on incidents involving all types of mechanical systems including natural gas, boilers, pressure vessels, steam valves, pumps, HVAC systems, plumbing and various mechanical devices and equipment
- Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
- Responsible for retention and development of client relations
- Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
- Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
- Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
- Regular and predictable presence at work
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required, Master's degree preferred
- P. E. registration through testing is required
- Minimum of four years of post-academic engineering experience
- Must possess strong writing skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Public speaking experience a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
- Ability to maneuver in and around an accident site
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
- Ability to carry equipment to and from job sites
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and structures and climb ladders
- Ability to drive in all conditions
- Ability to fly on airplanes
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
- Ability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
- Ability to learn a new industry and obtain required certifications
