Key Responsibilities

As a VPK Assistant Teacher, you will:

  • Plan, direct, and participate in age-appropriate activities designed to promote the intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development of children.

  • Prepare children for kindergarten by easing them into organized education, with a strong focus on Florida VPK standards, emergent literacy, and language development.

  • Implement curriculum that aligns with VPK program requirements, fostering skills in vocabulary, phonological awareness, and early learning readiness.

  • Support daily routines such as meals, rest, and transitions, while ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.

  • Maintain interactive and open communication with parents, colleagues, and leadership using our Classroom Management system.

  • Oversee classroom management and mentor junior team members.

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director and Director to ensure compliance with VPK program standards and organizational policies.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an early childhood classroom.

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential issued by the Council for Professional Recognition.

  • Completion of all Florida VPK training requirements, including:

    • Program standards

    • Emergent literacy

    • Language and vocabulary development

    • Phonological awareness

  • Strong communication skills, a nurturing approach, and a passion for early childhood education.

Compensation

???? $15.00 – $20.00 per hour (based on region, education, and experience)
