POSITION TITLE: Prevention Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTS TO: Director of Prevention Services

SALARY/FLSA STATUS: Exempt/Full Time




ORGANIZATION MISSION:

The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay is to prepare youth and young adults to be future-ready by providing life-changing programs, real-life experiences, and clear pathways to succeed in the classroom, the workplace and life.


POSITION SUMMARY:

 Under the supervision of the Director of Prevention Services, the Prevention Coordinator at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay (BGCGTB) will be working with middle school age youth, between the ages of 10 and 15 who are at risk of becoming involved in substance abuse related activities, specifically opioids. The Prevention Coordinator will be working with & training the Prevention Specialists to ensure their continued success. The Prevention Coordinator is responsible for implementing an action plan while monitoring the progress of all Prevention Specialists.

The successful candidate will show passion for youth, be able to articulate how they steward resources, identify how integrity relates to the position, and have a history of demonstrating respect for all contacts including clients, peers, agency partners, and the general community.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Assist the Director in areas of need where the Prevention Department is concerned.
  • Assist the Director with the design & development of all training programs for all new and incoming Prevention Specialists.
  • Assist the Director with the development of an individual action plan for each Prevention Specialist to ensure they are successful in their role and given area of designation.
  • Assist the Director in organizing monthly meetings for each county
  • Assist the Director in organizing quarterly meetings for the department.
  • Accompany any Prevention Specialist at a school with high and/or challenging enrollment.
  • Develop Lesson Plans for Prevention Specialists to teach Clubs during breaks, i.e.: Summer, Thanksgiving, Holiday Break, Spring Break.
  • Ensure all Prevention Specialists are up to date on the trainings required.
  • Perform all required school safety walk-throughs as per Grant initiatives.
  • Enroll and register any Prevention Specialist for travel/trip necessities.
  • Attend staff meetings regularly to receive and share information and new ideas.
  • Always maintain strict client confidentiality.
  • Assist in other areas as needed by the Director of Prevention Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, education, or counseling preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience in training and/or management.
  • Outstanding organization skills and managing multiple tasks and develop solutions quickly with limited supervision.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Self-disciplined, takes initiative, remains focused in the face of pressure.
  • Proven ability to work with efficiency, flexibility, and good humor while working in various settings and many personalities.
  • Demonstrates a relentless commitment to excellence in all tasks.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license: must be able to pass an MVR per our insurance.


TRAVEL:

Travel may be required to multiple Club facilities throughout Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas County for training and/or other business purposes.
