Hourly Rate: $17.50p/h

The position is scheduled to begin in the new school year 2025-2026.

Summary Description

The Pine School Substitute Teacher is responsible for carrying out lesson plans and classroom procedures, as set forth by the Teacher, in an engaging and meaningful way. The Substitute Teacher will ensure a quality learning experience to all children in his/her care. The Substitute Teacher must possess the knowledge and theoretical grounding necessary to instruct the Upper School, utilizing age-appropriate methods, strategies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

● Follow the lesson plans of the absent teacher and ensure optimal, engaging learning for students.

● Assign classwork and homework as prescribed by the teacher.

● Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives

● Maintain a positive learning environment for students.

● Manage classroom behavior and ensure that students make progress toward learning goals for the day.

● Supervise students outside of the classroom, in hallways, at lunch, at recess, and at drop off and pick up, if required.

● Other responsibilities as assigned by administration

Qualification Requirements

● A bachelor’s degree and teaching experience are preferred.

● Ability to develop rapport with students and exhibits enjoyment in working with students.

● Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.

● Demonstrate computer literacy and proficiency.

● High -energy and enthusiastic about working in an academic atmosphere with both adults and children.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

● Prolonged periods standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

● Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
