Our agency is looking for a compassionate, reliable, and values-aligned caregiver to support a bright, creative 6-year-old autistic child in a permanent, part-time respite care position. This role is perfect for someone who believes care should be rooted in relationship, respect for autonomy, and affirmation—not compliance.
Position Details

Start Date: October 1 (employment paperwork & background checks completed by early September)

Schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

Hours: 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM

Pay Rate: $23/hour

Location: Pickup from therapy in Stuart, then care provided in the family’s Port St. Lucie home
Responsibilities

Provide engaged, direct care aligned with neurodiversity-affirming principles

Support interest-led activities that promote emotional and physical well-being

Follow the child’s lead while honoring sensory and communication needs

Maintain constant supervision for safety without coercion or control-based strategies

Foster a calm, affirming environment rooted in trust, presence, and gentle boundaries
Qualifications

Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities

Clear, respectful communication skills & willingness to collaborate with parents

Valid driver’s license & safe driving record

Reliable, punctual, and values-aligned
-
Skilled in providing supportive, non-directive care
