Shutts & Bowen LLP, a leading Florida law firm, seeks a Conflict Analyst to join our team.
Shutts is seeking a Conflicts Analyst to join the firm’s Conflicts Department. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, analyzing and researching data related to potential new business and new employees, while contributing to the firm's success. The Conflicts Analyst works closely with attorneys and team members in the Conflicts Department to identify possible ethical and business-related conflicts of interest. The ideal candidate will be an intelligent and curious individual who enjoys research and variety each day and would like to utilize their strong oral and written communication skills; then this position is for you. This position requires someone with a collaborative mindset, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure, while also understanding the importance of delivering exceptional customer service. The role involves critical thinking, decisive judgment, and decision-making skills to research and identify potential issues related to bringing on new business and new employees to the firm.
Responsibilities
- Research corporate affiliations of potential clients and adverse parties using approved software, and cross-reference information with the internet, Secretary of State websites, and other research tools.
- Perform routine conflicts of interest searches by identifying and validating party information, determining appropriate search criteria (Boolean operators), running searches, and analyzing results to include or exclude data based on the policies and procedures of the General Counsel's Office.
- Verify that all conflict reports are complete, consistent, accurate, and adhere to established standards and procedures for all conflicts of interest searches conducted Firm-wide.
- Assist and respond to attorney and staff requests.
- Help maintain data in Aderant by updating client/matter name changes, adding parties to existing matters, and closing completed matters.
- Uphold standards for searches and analyses on all requests by enforcing and monitoring standards of accuracy, quality, and thoroughness.
- Be available for urgent and confidential matters and situations.
- Contribute to process, procedure, and technology improvements to enhance customer service and efficiency.
- Show proficiency in understanding and using the conflicts database.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- This position is an in-office position.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Aderant, and other research software is required.
- Strict attention to detail, along with excellent analytical and organizational skills, is essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be responsible for completing tasks and following through with issue resolution, including the ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
- The ideal candidate must interact well with people at all levels while maintaining high accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- A strong understanding of conflicts of interest and business intake procedures in a law firm environment, along with basic familiarity with Bar rules governing conflicts, is required.
- Two to three years of law firm experience with conflicts research or business intake with an AMLAW 200 firm is required.
- A bachelor’s degree is required.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- This is primarily a sedentary role; however, some filing is required; it would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
