Operation PAR, Inc. is a non-profit organization offering the full continuum of services for individuals with substance use and/or mental health disorders.  PAR has been providing comprehensive behavioral health treatment in west Florida since 1970 through advocacy, education, clinical services, and research.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Women's Village Counselor. Performs substance abuse and mental health counseling work on an individual client basis and in a group setting. Also provides evaluation, screening and assessment services. Responsible for servicing primary caseload along with other clients as assigned, and documenting in accordance with company standards.


SCOPE OF PRACTICE:

  • Screening, service coordination and treatment planning
  • Continuing assessment, documentation of progress and treatment plan reviews
  • Crisis intervention and recovery support services
  • Psychological assessment, referral and consultation
  • Individual, family and community education
  • Counseling in individual and group settings


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master's degree required, degree must be in a related field of counseling, psychology, social work or human services with prior experience.
  • One years' experience in counseling work in individual, family and group settings required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to write accurately and legibly
  • Moderate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Windows-based computers
  • Ability to accurately type at least 40 words per minute.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time
  • Ability to bend and to sit in meetings for extended periods of time
  • Ability to move throughout program facilities both indoors and outdoors


LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Addiction Professional (CAP) preferred.


ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Treatment program / Office
  • Fast paced environment
  • Exposure to possible verbal abuse and similar behavior
  • Possible exposure to clients with communicable diseases


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a valid driver's license or ID card.
  • Must pass a level II background check and drug screen.
