CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associates Degree preferred
- MA Certification Required
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year working as a Certified Medical Assistant in a medical practice.
- ECW / E-Clinical Works experience is a Plus
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific:
- Perform duties under supervision of physician or physician assistant.
- Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms.
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature and document all information in patient’s chart.
- Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or physician assistant.
- Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment.
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required.
- Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls.
- Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and Physician Assistant.
- Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills including composure, diplomacy, and the ability to act with a diverse patient population.
- Manage confidential employee information in a professional manner.
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Effectively time-manage job responsibilities; Organize workflow and documentation.
- Responds to medical emergencies and solicits immediately.
- Other duties assigned by Practice and Clinical area.
General:
- Ability to draw blood and confident in blood draw skills
- Associates degree preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association valid for at least 90 days after start date
- Experience working with Pediatric patients.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to prioritize needs and plan work accordingly.
- Knowledge of HIPAA.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background checks and drug screen

This position offers a full time schedule which includes day shifts and may include, 1 evening and 1 rotating weekend
Saturday or Sunday shift per month.
