DESCRIPTION:
Being a Costa Farms intern means you get an immersive experience with the rest of the organization. Working in a project team setting with your peers, you’ll learn all about our business while solving real-world challenges. Your internship as a Grower will allow you the opportunity to work alongside one of the best horticulture/agriculture teams in the industry. If you successfully complete the program, you may receive a contingent offer of employment to return as a full-time employee upon graduation from college.
As a Grower Intern at Costa Farms your responsibilities may include:
<ul>
<li>Work with growing team on developing and executing trials on several plant varieties. Gathering empirical data to find solutions to produce better crops.</li>
<li>Documenting growing protocols and develop specification sheets to ensure a standardized process</li>
<li>Gain exposure to the day to day operations by assisting the growing teams with the following tasks:</li>
<li>Inspection and document the condition of all incoming young plants</li>
<li>Help scout for insects and diseases in their section</li>
<li>Monitor moisture management of the plants in their section</li>
<li>Keep track of finished weeks of crops in their section</li>
<li>Work with the grower plant maintenance crew daily in their section</li>
</ul>
 
Requirements:
RESPONSIBILITIES

<li>A rising Senior (graduating by the Summer of the following year)</li>
<li>Be able to attend in-person for 9 weeks at our headquarters in Miami, FL</li>

QUALIFICATIONS

Job Description
Employee is required for maintaining the clean and neat appearance of all assigned areas. In addition, the employee is responsible for reporting all problems to the supervisor, including problem items that may not be in the list of responsibilities. Team work is expected from every employee. This description and quantity of duties is subject to change at any time by the supervisor.
Duties and Essential Functions

<li>Clean hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, elevators, common rooms (party room, children’s play room, fitness center) and other work areas so that health standards are met.</li>

<li>Properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures prior to using this equipment.</li>

Work Environment
The housekeeper performs their work in a residential environment. While primarily responsible for the cleaning of common areas and waiting areas, they will need to have the ability to work around chemical cleaning solutions.
Position requires exposure to the outdoor climate and weather conditions. 
Physical Demands
<ul>
<li>Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk and climb stairs, climb ladders, crawl in small and tight spaces; stoop and/or kneel; lift and/or move and/or carry up to 20 pounds in the work environment.</li>
<li>Ability to push cleaning equipment up to 30 lbs.</li>
<li>Ability to handle, finger, grasp and feel objects and equipment.</li>

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Non-exempt position (hourly) and the schedule will be determine at each property/location to suit the business needs of the community. This schedule may change to accommodate the business needs of the property.
Required Education and Experience
<ul>
<li>At least one year experience in managing and supervising a housekeeping department.</li>
<li>Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products and how to properly use them.</li>
<li>Ability to use standard cleaning equipment within a residential building; vacuum cleaner, floor polisher, cleaning cart, etc.</li>
<li>Must have the ability to react and address all emergency situations in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Effective written and verbal communication skills.</li>
</ul>
