Job Title: Senior Embryologist 
Reports to: Lab Director 
FLSA Status: Exempt 
Summary: CNY Fertility is a renowned fertility center offering advanced treatments like IVF, IUI, and egg freezing. With a patient-centered approach and cutting-edge technology, we support individuals and couples on their journey to parenthood. Our Senior Embryologist will be a detail-oriented, team player, technically skilled and highly motivated individual, to carry out the mission of CNY Fertility. 
Required Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 
<ol>
<li>Daily quality control, media preparation and dish preparation. </li>
<li>Microscope and pipettor use. </li>
<li>Use of other lab equipment to complete procedures: balance, pH meter, CO2 monitor, labeler etc. </li>
<li>Oocyte retrieval and denuding of oocytes. </li>
<li>Embryo and oocyte thawing/embryo and oocyte freezing. </li>
<li>Fertilization checks and embryo transfers. </li>
<li>Have a well-developed understanding of all aspects of running an Embryology lab including but not limited to: equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, QC/QA/QM/QI. </li>
<li>ICSI and conventional fertilization techniques. </li>
<li>Schedule procedures, complete tasks and navigate patient charts. </li>
<li>Understanding of cryopreservation and storage specimens. </li>
<li>Assist in cleaning and stocking inventory for the laboratory. </li>
<li>Perform PGT and load samples. Ability to interpret PGT reports and call patients with results. </li>
<li>Communicate with patients across various platforms such as web correspondences and phone calls. </li>
<li>Perform PESA/TESE sperm retrievals. </li>
<li>Supervise entire embryology staff, including overseeing PTO and scheduling of staff. </li>
<li>Participate in the alarm response team. </li>
</ol>
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in biology, or related field. At least four years of experience in clinical embryology setting. 
Language Ability: 
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 
 Math Ability: 
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 
Reasoning Ability: 
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 
Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:

<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills. </li>
<li>Must be able to lift 25lbs. </li>
<li>Excellent computer literacy. </li>

A nonexempt position responsible for performing venipuncture on patients.
<ul>
<li>Uses customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly.</li>
<li>Pre-visit plans patients’ records prior to visit in order to ensure appropriate orders and diagnosis.</li>
<li>Prepares equipment to efficiently collect specimens.</li>
<li>Performs venipuncture, arterial and capillary punctures on patients as directed by physician and following medical practice protocols and OSHA standards related to safety, infection control, and confidentiality.</li>
<li>Conducts testing on Point of Care specimens.</li>
<li>Appropriately prepares all specimens for transport to testing laboratories.</li>
<li>Appropriately identifies correct laboratory for testing specific to patient and insurance.</li>
<li>Enters data into computer.</li>
<li>Assists patients before, during, and after procedure. Instructs on proper urine collection procedures.</li>
<li>Cleans/sterilizes equipment, instruments, and work area following safety, cleanliness, and infection control procedures.</li>
<li>Inventories supplies and places orders to ensure adequate supplies are available for all procedures.</li>

Education/Experience Requirements:
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited medical vocational institution with phlebotomy course diploma.</li>
<li>Minimum one year of phlebotomy experience preferred. Medical practice experience helpful. National certification through American Medical Technologists as a registered phlebotomy technician not required but helpful. Current CPR certificate preferred. Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.</li>
